Bookcase

We offer furniture making, fire-surrounds, adzed ceiling beams, woodturning, hardwood flooring, specialist hardwood joinery, designer marquetry, carving & antique restoration.

We only use beautiful kiln-dried hardwoods. This is the only way to maintain consistent and enduring quality. Timbers used include: American cherry, ash, mahogany, walnut, and our speciality English oak.

Main services

Specialist fireplaces and fire surrounds. Furniture making, adzing, fitting furniture, mouldings, solid oak hardwood flooring, wood turning and barley twist, fretwork. I also offer furniture painting and spraying service to other companies.

Wood finishing

Nick also offers a colour matching, painting and staining service to match freshly commissioned pieces to the customer's existing pieces of furniture. Finishing techniques include: French polishing, beeswax, linseed and teak oil, and also more 'modern' finishes such as acid catalyst, cellulose, polyurethane.

Specialist wooden boat conversions

The picture on the right shows a bookcase made from a section of hull from an old coxed four rowing boat. This boat was called 'The Jackson Flyer' and was named after the local Brigg dentist Mr Jackson. Nick is an active member of the Ancholme Rowing Club, and he likes to make good use of boats which are no longer used for rowing by converting them into bookcases, trophy stands etc.

Nick is always on the lookout for wooden boats. Redundant boat hulls can be converted according to your exact specification.
